Senior, Eric White, traveled to the University of Maine at Orono on Wednesday, May 15th to participate in the Maine All-State Music Festival, working for 3 days under the direction of Dr. Pearl Shangkuan. Dr. Shangkuan is professor of Music at Calvin University in Grand Rapids, Michigan, where she directs choirs and teaches choral conducting and choral literature. She is also the chorus master of the Grammy-nominated Grand Rapids Symphony.
The All-State process begins for students back in September, as they work to prepare an Italian Art Song, their voice part of a madrigal, and a scale, which they perform for two judges in early December.
