Spain have emerged as one of the favorites at Euro 2024, and one of the biggest reasons for that has been the play of their left flank, usually comprised of Chelsea left back Marc Cucurella and Athletic Bilbao winger Nico Williams.
Williams Jr was a player to watch coming into the tournament, not least because of the occasional, if slightly speculative links with Chelsea. The 21-year-old certainly fits our standard recruitment profile, but reports subsequent to that initial speculation made it pretty clear that the finances involved did not.
More recently, Barcelona are said to be hot on his tail. But Cucurella is still trying to put in a good word for Chelsea … you know, just in case.
“He is a great player, he is bringing out all his potential. It is a source of pride that he is on our team, that he is our teammate and with players like him everything is easier. “He would be a great signing [for Barcelona], but it all depends on what he wants.
