Ann was born on August 4, 1931, in Charlotte, North Carolina. After graduating from St. Mary’s College in Raleigh, North Carolina, Ann completed her higher education at Sophie Newcombe College (now part of Tulane University) in New Orleans, Louisiana. Following college, she worked as an American Airlines flight attendant, primarily working the Dallas to Mexico City route.

Ann was a lifelong member of The Episcopal Church where she served in various capacities. She was a member of the Junior League of Greensboro and a loyal school volunteer, and she served in countless other community volunteer roles.

In addition to her parents, Ann was predeceased by her husband, James Edward Baynard, who died in 2015, and her sister, Charlotte Nicoll Watt (Susie). She is survived by her son, David Nicoll Baynard, and wife, Ruthie Weeks Baynard; and son, Paul Rudd Baynard, and wife, Mary Kay Cherry Baynard, as well as five grandchildren, James States Lee Baynard and wife, Anna Cook Baynard, Mary Charlotte Baynard and husband, Angel Alexander Macias, Ann Cherry Baynard and fiance, Perry Harrison Woodside, Joseph Rudd Baynard, and David Blount Baynard. She is also survived by her sister, Elizabeth Nicoll Felton, of New Braunfels, Texas; and her nephews and nieces, Gordon Richardson Watt, III, wife Sarah and their children, Gordon and Catherine, Harriet Baynard Ham, John Wilkinson Baynard, II, Susan Baynard Clayton, Robert Parks Baynard, Jr., Barbara Baynard Finn, Elizabeth Baynard Benfield, William Girroir Baynard, Jr., Stonewall Jacobs Felton, III, and Charlotte Anne Felton.

Ann loved her church, her family and her friends. She and Jim were the consummate hosts, and a dinner in their home was always a joyous event to be remembered. She had a true compassion and concern for others, which made her beloved by all who knew her. A conversation with Ann was always interesting, primarily because she was always interested in you.

A memorial service will be held at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church on Tuesday, August 13, 2024 at 1:30 p.m. Following the service, the family will greet friends in the Haywood Duke Room.
