It is with deepest sadness and broken hearts that the family shares the passing of Marisa Tatro on July 25, 2024 in La Jolla, California after a brief illness. Marisa left us peacefully and in no pain, surrounded by the love of many family and friends.Marisa was born 29 years ago in Ewa Beach, Hawaii. The family moved to Ramona approximately 2 years later. Marisa grew up in Ramona and graduated from Ramona High School. Like most, she had her own demons, but decided to face them, conquer and not hide them….using these circumstances as a way to talk to and help others experiencing the same issues. At a young age she was already showing the courage and resolve that would follow her throughout her life. She reveled in the success of those she cared about and wanted to help when they faced life’s challenges. Her family and friends were foremost but she did have other loves especially art. She was adept with pencil, pen, paint and created beautiful works. As well, she appreciated what others created. She loved music, the Halloween holiday, horror movies (especially bad ones), and classic old movies with Audrey Hepburn and Marilyn Monroe. She adored travel and had, in the last few years, visited Japan, Wales, Ireland, Scotland, France, England and Iceland. France was exciting for her as she had long favored the country and wanted to visit, but unexpectedly found a love of Ireland as well.Marisa knew exactly who she was, was grounded and comfortable in her own skin. She never wanted to be the center of attention, even during her recent battle. She preferred to listen rather than talk – focusing on others and their lives, their happiness and their woes. With her passing a shining light has dimmed and the world is a darker place, but she will live on in loving hearts and joyful memories of those she touched, including her husband Justin, her brother John, her parents Mizuho and Brett and many, many additional family and friends. On Sunday, August 25, 2024 at 1 pm, family and friends will gather to celebrate the joys and share memories of such a remarkable lady. For details on where to attend, or to contact the family, please contact the mortuary below.Marisa was not an easy person to get to know but was the easiest person to love. Once she let you into her life you had a friend that you could count on forever. Marisa would challenge us to be kind to each other and to be the best version of ourselves possible. Her courage and view of life are and will continue to be inspirational and she will be missed, so terribly, terribly much. We love you honey.Bonham Bros. & Stewart Mortuary and Cremation Service is assisting the family.…Read more by San Diego Union-Tribune
