In recognition of National Recovery Month, the Northern Arizona VA Health Care System (NAVAHCS) is inviting Veterans, their families and the public to its 2nd Annual Recovery Month Celebration taking place at the Bob Stump VA Medical Center in Prescott on Thursday, Sept. 12 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
“At NAVAHCS, we recognize National Recovery Month to reduce stigma associated with addiction, highlight available resources, and celebrate the resilience of Veterans currently on the journey to recovery,” said Dr. Jennifer Sigler, NAVAHCS’s Substance Use Disorder Program Manager.
Several Veterans who are currently in recovery will be sharing their stories during the event. There will also be a memorial banner on which anyone can write on, whether that be a personal story of recovery, or the name of someone lost to substance use.
Information about local resources will be provided and refreshments will be served. All attending Veterans will receive free lunch and swag. A raffle and games, such as cornhole, will also be available for visitors to enjoy.
