GRANDVILLE, Mich. (WOOD) — For 40 years, Meals on Wheels volunteers have made sure seniors in West Michigan don’t go hungry.
On Wednesday, they’re celebrating their work, including overcoming challenges like the pandemic and funding issues, by having a Behind the Scenes Open House.
The event offers a look at how they operate and their impact over the years. It runs from 9:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. at their Grandville headquarters, with a presentation at 10 a.m.
Since launching in 1984, Meals on Wheels now serves over 700,000 meals to 6,200 clients annually, and distributes 1.2 million pounds of groceries, thanks to 22,000 volunteer hours.
