Sheree Johnson Cooney, 67, of Minneapolis. Born in Oulu, WI, the youngest of 12 on her beloved brother Rodney’s 10th birthday. As the baby in a big family, she earned the nickname Dinta: Finnish for crybaby. She was a wild and rambunctious child who grew up to be an energetic, vibrant woman. She was so many things to so many people: daughter, sister, auntie, friend, wife, mother, “grammy”, founding member of the LLLH, DIYer (before it was trendy!), confidante, caregiver. Her family and legions of friends will miss her compassionate and welcoming soul.
She was preceded in death by her parents Alma and Oliver, brothers Wesley, Clayton and Marvin, sisters Nona and Sharon, and her husband of 42 years, Matthew. She is survived by sisters Barbara, Cheryl, and Cindy, brothers Virgil, Rodney and Daryl, her beloved children Emily (Mo), Brenden and Zach (Amanda), and spirited grandchildren Brandon, Calvin, Alma and Matthew.
A memorial gathering is being planned for Spring 2025 and all are encouraged to celebrate Sheree on October 15th – her 68th birthday. In the meantime, may you find comfort in these words left in her daily notes as of late, undoubtedly meant for anyone who ever touched her life. “If I forget to tell you and something happens to me, you gave me joy and made my life happier. I love you.”…Read more by
