The 11th Annual Historic Houses of Worship Tour will take place in downtown Hagerstown on Dec. 26 from 3 to 7 p.m.
The free, self-guided tour will feature 11 worship sites, each showcasing their unique history, art, literature and architecture. Visitors will have the opportunity to learn about the ecumenical heritage, traditions and music of the holiday season at each location.
“What I love about the Historic Houses of Worship Tour is on what’s usually a quiet day, there are small and large groups walking in Downtown Hagerstown to expose themselves to the beautiful architecture of the houses of worship,” said Dan Spedden, president of Visit Hagerstown & Washington County Convention and Visitors Bureau.
Most of the sites are within walking distance of one another and are handicapped accessible, according to a news release. Light refreshments will be available at various locations throughout the tour.
Tour brochures, showing participating locations and all event details, can be picked up at worship sites or downloaded at www.harccoalition.org.
The event is hosted by the participating worship sites with support from the Hagerstown Area Religious Council, the City of Hagerstown, and Visit Hagerstown & Washington County CVB.
Attendees are encouraged to dine at one of the downtown establishments before or after the tour. A variety of dining options are available, ranging from Puerto Rican to American fare.
In the event of inclement weather, updates will be available on HARC’s website or by tuning into WJEJ radio station, 104.3 FM and 1240 AM. If the tour is canceled, it will be rescheduled for Dec. 27.
