Letter: Asking a series of questions about America

A scientific view of reality depends on numbers and logic. Here are some logical questions.

If raising the minimum wage is helpful, how well did it work the last time? If humans cause global warming, why not encourage smaller families and insist that they populate undeveloped lands? And why do we shelter them in big cities? If diversity is good, what has it done for us lately? And when do we have the right amount? And how has it improved communications here?

If America is the technological leader, why do we need to entice more scientists to live here? -and why do we take them from poor countries? If government knows who we are, where we live, when we are born, die, immigrate and emigrate, our occupations, employers, income and health, why not use that to take the census?

If Americans refuse to do menial work, why not raise the income for menial workers? And why discourage citizens from learning the value of manual labor? If on-the-job is the best training, why do we bar youth from working? If land is vital to raise food, why do we pave over the land? If we must add people and people need energy to survive, why do we ban use of our fuel resources? If decency and respect are part of the American dream, why do we trash our language? If inflation hurts Americans, especially the poor and the aged, why do we keep electing people who don’t know that?
