WRESTLING ROUNDUP: Mexico boys win St. Charles Invitational – The Mexico Ledger

The Mexico boys didn’t have everybody available on Saturday, but it didn’t matter.

The Bulldogs had three open weights due to injuries and sickness, but they won the St. Charles Invitational with 229 points to finish ahead of the 185 points by Liberty (Wentzville). Trevor Cole at 106 pounds, Carlos Juarez Ramirez at 113, Evan Blair at 120, Logan Hilderman at 126 and Travis Shramek at 285 each won their respective weight classes. Juarez Ramirez was 3-0, and the others were each 4-0.

Grant Walker was second at 190, Brenden Wilson was third at 165 and Kyler Carr was fourth at 157.

Four days prior in the home opener, Mexico won its quad meet by defeating Hickman 60-20, Palmyra 66-15 and Southern Boone 45-25.

Abby Bowen won her second straight tournament on Friday.

The Mexico girls competed at the Chillicothe Girls Wrestling Tournament and had three girls finish in the top three of their respective weight classes. Bowen was first at 140 pounds, winning all three of her matches after winning at the Capital City tournament a week prior. Zuri Crews was second at 135 and Kendal Sons was third at 170, going 3-1.

Three days prior, Mexico improved its dual record to 10-6 after defeating Hickman 48-30, Palmyra 66-10 and Southern Boone 42-34.

Centralia boys go 4-0 in duals, Robinson gets 100th win; girls go 3-1

Charlie Robinson picked up an important win amongst Centralia’s boys several wins this week.

The Panthers won all four of their duals last week, and the junior Robinson secured his 100th career win on Jan. 13 at a home tri meet against North Callaway and Blair Oaks. Class 1 No. 2 Centralia defeated Class 1 No. 1 North Callaway 56-24 and Blair Oaks 60-23 and then Southern Boone 45-21 and Moberly 49-24 on Thursday at Southern Boone.

The Lady Panthers went 3-1 against the same schools. They defeated Blair Oaks 48-9, North Callaway 46-12 and Southern Boone 30-18 but lost to Moberly on a tiebreaker.

This past weekend, the North Callaway boys weren’t in Missouri anymore.

The Thunderbirds were one of seven Missouri schools and nine out-of-state schools to be at the Bobcat Classic in Basehor, Kansas. Collin Moore had the best finish for North Callaway in fourth place at 165 pounds, Kellen Long was fifth at 157, Hunter Long was sixth at 215 and Gunnar Wenneker was seventh at 285.

Ella Baker was victorious on Saturday in Odessa.

At the Odessa Lady Bulldog Invitational, Baker won the 135-pound bracket for the North Callaway girls after winning all three of her matches. Elka Endres was second at 140 after going 3-1 and Brooke Giboney was second at 105 after going 2-1.

Missouri Military Academy has three medal at Warsaw

At the Warsaw Wildcat Invitational on Saturday, Missouri Military Academy had three reach the podium.

Daniel Bravo finished second at 120 pounds, Deonte Kerns was second at 150 and Erik Bond was third at 190. Kerns started his day with four straight wins before finishing 4-1 like Bravo and Bond.…Read more by
