The AltiHut Cottages expand mountain refuge ecosystem as compact satellite cottages designed by STIPFOLD to extend the original AltiHut experience on Mount Kazbek while keeping human presence unobtrusive in the landscape. Set near Georgia’s first high-altitude sustainable hut at about 3,014 meters, the new cottages are intended for families and small groups, offering intimate retreats with a children’s room, a central living area, and an open mezzanine bedroom oriented toward the horizon.
The fiber-concrete exterior shells are smooth and monolithic, making the structures read from a distance like weathered rock or snow-carved forms that blend with their alpine surroundings. Interiors are lined with natural wood that envelopes walls and ceilings, creating a warm environment that highlights uninterrupted views of the mountain. Large glazed openings frame the landscape as part of daily life, turning waking and resting into experiences shaped by terrain rather than isolated interior views. The cottages follow the site’s helicopter-delivered and solar-powered discipline to reduce impact and simplify construction.
