HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – March is National Reading Month, and Raising Cane’s is partnering with a nonprofit to help inspire the love of reading for children.
For the fifth year in a row, Cane’s has partnered with local nonprofit Read To Me International to help provide parents with the skills and techniques to engage keiki in reading.
Organizers said there will be free book readings, bookmark making, singing, and learning activities at select Raising Cane’s restaurants across Oahu.
The event is free and open to the public, but seating is limited. Registration is recommended and can be done online.
The read-aloud events take place each Saturday in March from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.
• Sunday, March 22, at the Waikiki Cane’s Restaurant at the Royal Hawaiian Center
Organizers said a parent survey will be distributed at each session, and every keiki in each family will receive a free book upon completion of the survey.
Keiki can also earn a free kids combo by reading seven or more books in March by checking off a bookmark with the restaurant’s mascot and namesake.
The complete bookmarks can be turned into their local Raising Cane’s restaurants.

Cane’s said that 15% of food sales from each read-aloud event will be donated to Read To Me International.…Read more by HNN Staff
