Island youth looking for a job over the summer will be able to submit applications for the Governor’s Summer Youth Employment Program Childcare component beginning on April 17. Here’s what you need to know to apply.

The GSYEP Childcare component is open to youth 15-18 years old who picked up an application during the distribution period held in March. According to the Department of Youth Affairs, the number of applications distributed corresponds with the number of youth positions requested by participating daycare facilities.

“Each application has been assigned a control number, and the name of the applicant was recorded at the time of pick-up. During submission, both the control number and applicant name must match our records. Any discrepancies will result in the application being rejected,” GSYEP said, noting the application must be submitted in person.

Additional guidelines for application submission include providing a copy of the applicant’s photo ID such as a Guam ID, driver’s license, passport or recent student ID. DYA stressed that the copy must be enlarged to 8.5″x 11.”

Applicants will also need to submit copies of their birth certificate, social security card, parent or guardian’s identification (also enlarged), a completed BCCS Consent for Disclosure of Client Information form, Guam Police Department Authorization, court clearance, completed Health Certificate Authorization Letter form and copy of the completed Health Certificate Application.

As part of the Health Certificate application, DYA said students must obtain a physical and PPD test.

“DPHSS will not provide the physical exams and PPD/TB testing originally scheduled for Saturday, March 28, 2026, for GSYEP childcare applicants. This service was intended to assist applicants experiencing insurance coverage issues,” DYA noted.

Applications will be accepted from April 17-24 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Youth Center in Haya, Kattan, and Lagu depending on where the application was picked up.
