For the second week in a row, Salem is taking on Lumberton. The Wildcats will host the Panthers at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Salem will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.
It was a proper cat-fight when Salem duked it out with Lumberton on Tuesday. The Wildcats blew past the Panthers 16-4. The Wildcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight games by six runs or more this season.
Kenzie Dalton was a standout: she got on base in three of her five plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. She also hit a double, marking her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Ripsy Reid, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and one run.
Salem is on a roll lately: they’ve won six of their last eight matchups. That’s provided a nice bump to their 12-6-2 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.9 runs over those games. As for Lumberton, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-7.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Salem has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.9 stolen bases per game. However, it’s not like Lumberton struggles in that department as they’ve been averaging an even more impressive 11.3 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
