WELCOME — Gary L. Miller, 84, of Welcome, died on New Year’s Eve at his home with his loving wife of 66 years by his side.

A Celebration of Life service will be held for Gary at 11 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 6, at St. Paul’s Community Church/Sinn Family Celebration of Life Center – Welcome Chapel (214 N Dugan Street, Welcome, Minn. 56181) with Pastor Russ Steele officiating. A private family burial will take place at Lakeside Cemetery in Fairmont.

Visitation will take place from 3 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 5, at St. Paul’s Community Church/Sinn Family Celebration of Life Center – Welcome Chapel. Visitation will also take place one hour prior to Gary’s service on Monday.

Gary’s service will be livestreamed and also available later on his obituary page at www.sinnfuneralhome.com. Sinn Family Celebration of Life Center of Welcome and Trimont is assisting the family with arrangements.

Gary L. Miller was born on July 22, 1940, to Paul and Lydia (Klopp) Miller in Manyaska Township. Gary attended Welcome High School, which is where he met the love of his life, Janet Gerischer. Gary and Janet were united in marriage at St. Paul’s Evangelical and Reformed Church and they were later blessed with three children, Cindy, Jeff, and Lori.

Gary farmed for 42 years of his life, until retiring at 60. In addition to farming, he sold seeds for various different companies and also sold Rupp Snowmobiles for 17 years.

Gary enjoyed traveling with Janet and regularly wintered in Casa Grande, Ariz. for 20 years together. He also enjoyed snowmobiling, fishing, camping, boating, golfing, and horse riding.

Gary was a member of the Sherburn Lions Club, Fox Lake Golf Club Board, and the Fox Lake Association.

Gary will forever be remembered by his loving wife of 66 years, Janet; daughter, Cindy (Doug) Saxen and their children, Danielle (Jim) Saxen-Curlee, Levi (Lindsey) Saxen; son, Jeff (Jo) Miller and their children, Sarah (Jeremy) Glidden, Jenna Miller-Schaefer, Lucas (Bethany) Miller and step-children, Randy Neppl, Scott Neppl, and Kelly Miller; daughter, Lori (Steve) Janssen and their children, Ashley (Nate) Hawker, and Courtney (fiancé, Jeff Shambour) Janssen; 10 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; as well as many other family and friends.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Lydia (Klopp) Miller; siblings, Delores (Warren) Swift, LaVerne (Mildred) Miller, Eunice (Leo) Eisenmenger; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Herman and Zena Gerischer; sisters-in-law, Ailene (Orville) Nord and Marion (Robert) Haack.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Gary’s name to the Fox Lake Association or Welcome Fire Department Relief Association.
