Xpeng Brings A Van-Shaped Aircraft Carrier To Las Vegas

The Chinese car industry is undeniably innovative, producing inexpensive plug-in hybrids and long-range EVs that are among the best in the world. And thanks to aviation company AeroHT (a subsidiary of Xpeng), the country is taking its vehicular aspirations to the skies. At the 2025 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, AeroHT showed off the Land Aircraft Carrier concept, a six-wheeled van with its own two-person drone that launches from the cargo area. Sure makes American vans like the Chevrolet Express and Ram ProMaster look a bit archaic, no?

Five Minutes To Learn How To Fly

As you can see in the GIF above, the Land Aircraft Carrier features Dutch doors on the back and a triangular pop-top over the rear, from which deploys an insectoid flying machine. The six-rotor drone runs on electricity and seats two passengers, and AeroHT claims it takes five minutes to learn and three hours to master flying, thanks to sophisticated guidance software that handles a lot of the routing and flight stabilization. Either passenger operates the eVTOL (electric vertical take-off and landing) with a single joystick mounted between the seats.

The drone automatically recharges on board the Land Aircraft Carrier, which uses a “range-extended powertrain.” To us, it sounds as though there’s an internal-combustion engine in there somewhere, giving the van a range of 1,000 kilometers (621 miles), and when the flight module is docked, it recharges automatically using the mothership’s power source. AeroHT says a full charge will provide enough juice for six flights, though how long those flights are isn’t specified.

The Van Is More Than Just Transport For The Drone

The Land Aircraft Carrier itself is a six-wheel-drive machine that has a slick, space rover design that looks like the future we were promised in the 1970s. The canopy front end conceals a four-passenger interior, and the van measures just 217 inches long by 79 inches wide by 79 inches tall, making it far and away the smallest aircraft carrier in existence. AeroHT points out that anyone with a driver’s license can operate the van, and it’s sized for urban environments, garages, and tight parking spaces.

Considering fancy conversion vans and private aircraft can both easily crest six figures, don’t be too surprised to learn that the AeroHT Land Aircraft Carrier carries a price of $280,000 converted from local currency. Mass production for the combo is planned for 2026. The company expects to be the first series producer of flying cars and is registering consumer interest in both the Land Aircraft Carrier and last year’s CES debut, the eVTOL Flying Car.…Read more by Brett T.
