A new start for Doctor Who, a great new Star Wars series, and the return of one of the most popular comic book animated series are among our picks for the TV episodes of 2024. From the thrilling fights, shocking revelations, and intense moments among our picks, these episodes had our attention last year.

Here are our picks for the Top 5 TV Episodes released in 2024.

While it took the revival of X-Men: The Animated Series a few episodes to find its groove, it provided a masterpiece with episode 5 which showcases what is possible with the X-Men property. Equal parts exhilarating and heart-breaking, this episode has some of the most incredible action sequences in animation this year as well as moving many of the show’s core relationships forward, all within 37 minutes. An episode of television will have you doing what Gambit would always say: “Remember it”.

Sofia Falcone and Cristin Miloti’s performance are two of the best parts of The Penguin. The highlight is a flashback in this episode explaining how she became the woman she is in the present. Set up by her father, she is sent to Arkham Asylum as an innocent woman and struggles to survive for years within the conditions of the Batman universe’s famous prison. She comes out the other side a changed woman.

A really special episode that could be remembered with some of the best in show’s history.

Baby Reindeer has many memorable scenes, and the story is one of 2024’s standout limited series. ‘Episode 6’ contains the most memorable scene of the show. However, as Donny’s on-stage comedy performance turns into a breakdown and confession, he lets all his feelings come out through all the torment he has been through and the feelings he’s been concealing inside. This episode also contains one of my favourite sad but funny scenes, where Donny’s dad gives Martha a proper telling-off.

‘Night’ was the changing moment for The Acolyte, where the series went from interesting to genuinely engaging. One way to quickly engage Star Wars fans like myself is to introduce a new villain as interesting as ‘The Stranger’ and have them take place in the most action-packed and thrilling fight scene we’ve had in live-action Star Wars in a long time. And that’s what this whole episode is about: one great battle scene between two sides of the force, with those caught in between. It was so good that first time, I had to watch it again quickly after.…Read more by
