With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Philip Todd Nesselroad, who departed this life on January 28, 2025, at the age of 50 in Columbus, Ohio. Philip was born on May 29, 1974, in Steubenville, Ohio, and though he spent much of his life in Columbus, his journey took him to many places, including his time at Mount Vernon Nazarene College.
Philip was a loving husband to Karen Nesselroad and a proud father to his daughter, Delaney Rae. He also cherished his stepdaughters, Sophie and Stephanie. He is survived by his beloved mother and stepfather, Maxine and Daryl Bowers; his brothers, Jim, Matt, and Perry; and his stepsister, Becky Boyd, along with her husband, Jon Boyd. Philip was preceded in death by his father, James R. Nesselroad Sr.; his sisters, Holly and Amy Lynn; and his brothers, Mark and Jonathon.
Philip attended Mount Vernon Nazarene College, where he formed lasting friendships and built cherished memories. A devoted sports fan, he passionately supported the Dallas Cowboys and the Ohio State Buckeyes. His enthusiasm for the game was only matched by his unwavering faith. As a dedicated member of Dublin Baptist Church, Philip recently committed his life to Christ through baptism, a moment that brought him immense peace and joy.
Philip had a lighthearted spirit and a wonderful sense of humor. He firmly believed in the existence of Bigfoot, though he often joked that he wasn’t quite sure he wanted to meet him in person. His kindness, warmth, and laughter will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 1:30 PM on February 22, 2025, at Dublin Baptist Church, 7195 Coffman Rd, Dublin, OH 43017.
