Renovation work at Chennai Egmore Railway Station is progressing steadily, with officials indicating that suburban (electric train) platform upgrades will be completed by April 5.

The station is undergoing a major redevelopment project worth ₹734.91 crore, launched in February 2023 to handle rising passenger traffic. So far, over 50% of the overall work has been completed.

– Upgrades to platforms 10 and 11 for electric trains

– Construction of new parking facilities, parcel office, and entry points

– Development of railway staff amenities

– Renovation of express train platforms

Officials confirmed that once the platform works are completed, train services will resume from April 5, improving commuter convenience at one of Chennai’s busiest railway hubs.…Read more by J.Sampath
