The A’s (3-7) and the New York Yankees (8-2) play the second game of their 3-game series Wednesday at Yankee Stadium in Bronx, New York. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. ET (Prime Video). Let’s analyze MLB odds around the A’s vs. Yankees odds and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.

The Yankees opened the series Tuesday with a 5-3 win, cashing as -260 favorites while the Under (8.5) hit. 3B Amed Rosario (2 for 4, 2 RBIs) hit 2 home runs, including a go-ahead 3-run shot in the eighth. RP David Bednar sealed it with a perfect ninth for his fifth save.

The A’s carried a 3-1 lead into the eighth behind a solid outing from SP Aaron Civale (5 IP, 1 ER, 2 H, 4 BB, 6 K, 1 HR). 1B Nick Kurtz (1 for 5, 2 RBIs) gave the A’s a 2-1 lead with a 2-run double in third, but the bullpen fell apart late. RP Mark Leiter Jr. took the loss after allowing 4 runs in just 2/3 of the eighth inning.

Severino (0-1, 6.48 ERA) will make his third start of 2026. He was 8-11 with a 4.54 ERA over 29 starts in 2025. He had a 1.30 WHIP, 2.8 BB/9 and 6.9 K/9 in 162 2/3 innings.

A’s at Yankees picks and predictions

The Yankees (-190) will win, but I’ll take the much better odds on the run line.

The A’s have struggled offensively to start the season, batting just .224 as a team (ninth in the AL). They’ve struck out 112 times, fourth most in the majors.

This is a tough matchup for the A’s against a deep Yankees roster led by a healthy DH Giancarlo Stanton (.378 batting avg.) and other helpful key additions … especially against Severino, who has been crushed by his former team since leaving.

New York’s bullpen has been terrific, anchored by Bednar. It ranks third in the majors with a 2.86 ERA (behind Texas’ 1.70 and Seattle’s 2.21).

New York has covered the run line in 5 of its last 6 games. The Yankees have clear advantages across the board and there’s solid value in NEW YORK -1.5 (+110).

Head-to-head A’s-Yankees have trended toward high-scoring games with the Over hitting in 6 of their last 9 meetings.

Both teams have also been cashing Overs recently. The Over is 4-1 in the Yankees’ last 5 games, while it’s 3-1 in the A’s last 4.

New York has hit Severino hard in past matchups, scoring 8 and 7 runs, and could once again do most of the work to push this game Over the total.
