Batavia Woman’s Club sets fundraiser shopping event

The Batavia Woman’s Club and Oui Travel are offering the Fifth Annual Passport to Batavia shopping event from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday, July 25 in the city’s downtown.

According to a news release, the event raised $2,000 last year for the Batavia Interfaith Food Pantry and the Clothes Closet to assist local families in need.

The club wants to surpass that amount with this year’s event.

Passports are $30 and available at the Batavia Farmers Market, 110 N. River St., 8 a.m. to noon July 25.

Passports are also available online at bataviawomansclub.org.

Participants will also get goody bags and route maps.

The self-directed journey will lead shoppers to more than a dozen east-side shops, both new and long-established, according to the release.

The Batavia Boardwalk Shops also include eight all-new businesses.

All participating shop owners will be ready to welcome you to their businesses with special deals or treats.

The shopping trip will end with a final destination party at Start Something Studio, 12 S. Van Buren St., where participants can relax from 2 to 3:30 p.m. with refreshments. Pepe’s is co-hosting the final destination party, according to the release.

Participants will also get chances to win Batavia Chamber Bucks courtesy of the Chamber of Commerce or a raffle basket donated by Main Street.

Proceeds from Passport ticket sales will help those community members who are facing food shortages or insecurity, especially important during current times.…Read more by Brenda Schory
