Thousands of ScotRail passengers have been charged £10 minimum fares for not buying a ticket before travelling since the penalty was introduced a month ago, The Scotsman has learned.

An article on The Scotsman says the Scottish Government-owned train operator also said publicity over the policy since April had also increased ticket sales by more than £400,000.

ScotRail said between July 1 and August 3, 14,336 minimum fare tickets were issued – an average of more than 400 a day.

Transport for Wales (TfW) is introducing new technology at seven stations across the Wales and borders network this summer as part of an investment to improve accessibility, customer support and station operations.

An article on Wales 24/7 says the upgrades will see modernised gatelines, colleague tablet devices and new interactive video help points installed at Cardiff Queen Street, Neath, Swansea, Rhyl, Chester, Shrewsbury and Newport.

Designed to make station access easier and more accessible, the project combines upgraded ticket barriers with enhanced on the ground support to help passengers move through stations more smoothly.

A Victorian railway station building is set to benefit from a £600,000 restoration project.

An article on the BBC website says built in 1859, Crowthorne station in Berkshire serves hundreds of thousands of passengers annually on the Great Western Railway North Downs Line.
