ElAnalistaDeBits compared the Steam Machine and PS5 and found that despite faster boot times and a more compact design, Valve’s device generally underperforms Sony’s console.

Blogger ElAnalistaDeBits compared the Steam Machine and PS5. The author examined almost everything: design, boot speed, in-game performance, and cost.

The Steam Machine impresses with its compact size. Valve’s device is noticeably smaller than the PS5, boots faster, wakes from sleep mode quicker, loads games, and installs updates more rapidly.

In performance tests, the situation changes. In games with AMD FSR 4, the Steam Machine sometimes produces a better picture, but with identical settings, the PS5 proves faster. On average, Sony’s console shows about 15 FPS more.

There are exceptions. Resident Evil Requiem and Grand Theft Auto V make better use of the Steam Machine’s capabilities, partly due to the unlocked frame rate. Overall, however, the PS5 retains the advantage.

The main problem with the Steam Machine is its price. According to ElAnalistaDeBits, the device should cost around $650 to compete with the PS5. At its current price, the purchase seems less advantageous, especially for those who prioritize in-game performance.…Read more by Dmitry Krivov
