Man posing as NFL player accused of stealing $1.3 million from dozens of women in 4 states

PORTLAND, Ore. (KPTV/Gray News) – Two men are facing wire fraud charges, including one who allegedly posed as an NFL player to scam dozens of women out of their money.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office District of Oregon said 35-year-old Daejon Labrayae Love posed as a player for the San Francisco 49ers or as a wealthy real estate investor on dating apps, while 18-year-old Taylor Jamie Chan posed as his financial adviser.

Love allegedly made his victims believe he wanted to build a future with them and convinced them to give him money toward fake investments promoted by Chan.

According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office District of Oregon, Love used phone applications to create fictitious bank and investment accounts and balances which he showed victims to legitimize the scheme.

Authorities said financial records indicate they stole over $1.3 million from 26 women across Oregon, California, Washington and Idaho.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office District of Oregon said Love and Chan’s scheme lasted from February 2022 until their arrest on Aug. 24, 2026.

Both were arrested at the Boise Airport in Idaho. Investigators said Love was in Idaho to meet new victims. He had previously traveled to New Mexico, California, Oregon, Nevada, Utah and Idaho from July 15 through Aug. 24.

Love used several names including Jon Love, Daejon Love, Avril Lyto Love and Jordan Love to perpetuate the scheme.

Both Love and Chan were due for their first court appearances on Thursday.
