Kathmandu. Although Nepal Oil Corporation has started distributing LP gas from six locations targeting the Kathmandu Valley for Dashain, the supply has not yet become smooth.
Although the Nepal LP Gas Industry Association, in coordination with the Oil Corporation, has arranged for gas exchange and sale from October 11 to 17, consumers have not been able to get gas easily.
Even though gas can be purchased from the designated locations from 9:30 AM to 4:30 PM, consumers have been forming very long queues at those locations. Consumers have complained that even though tokens are given to consumers who do not get gas on the same day, it has not been able to reassure them.
Ashok Kumar Gurung, a resident of Suryadarshan Heights, said that he had to go for two days to get gas. He was forced to stand in line for six to seven hours from the line that started from Balaju Police Station on the second day, after going to inquire about gas on the first day. He said that even after taking the coupon, he had to stand in line again the next day to get gas.
Gurung said, ‘Yesterday, I took a coupon by standing in line for six-seven hours from the police station, and then today I finally got gas by standing in line again’. Expressing dissatisfaction with the cumbersome situation of having to stand in line repeatedly for gas, he said that the government should take the consumers’ problems seriously.
