St Louis getting out for Cori Bush

Democrats are fighting for control of St Louis and US House seat 01 for the State of Missouri. The primary for MO-01 is August 4th. Though eight candidates from three parties are running, the election will come down to the Democratic candidates two term Representative Cori Bush and incumbent Representative Wesley Bell.

Backed by PACs and national megadonors, Wesley Bell, who had 10s of millions in support to get elected, has raised 70% of the money and has a 10 fold advantage in cash on hand for the MO-01 D primary.

St Louis remembers how well Cori Bush served our community. We support Cori’s priorities for families, healthcare, democracy and justice. Cori has shown us that she understands how to get help for St Louis when we are reeling from a disaster, such as an EF4 tornado, without making us wait while figuring federal government out like Representative Bell. Many of us are getting out to promote the August 4th primary and voting for Cori Bush.

We are not just waiting for money and media to help us choose our representative. Check out the numerous groups canvassing, phone banking, and throwing house parties for Cori. We’ll be celebrating Juneteenth at the Dellwood Recreation Center if you are in the area. There are other gatherings too, with hundreds to thousands of people joining in virtual and live events.

I have canvassed with DSA and Jews for Cori. There are others canvassing too. Turnout and support among Cori supporters is second to none. I have also hosted a house party for Cori, as shown in the title photo. Cori and company were very gracious and friendly, even with the dismal turnout I mustered. They showed that they care about St Louis from intimate gatherings such as mine to big rallies with tens of thousands. Neighbors are showing us that they care about St Louis and support Cori Bush every day we knock on doors for the August 4th primary.

The ground support for Cori is amazing and inspiring. Still, we are up against big money and media. We hear the impacts in feedback from detractors. Supporters here are redoubling are efforts to tell people about Cori’s accomplishments and priorities.

We are organizing not just for Cori’s campaign, but for a better St Louis with equitable and sustainable relations throughout our community contributing to national and global coexistence. Cori joins us not just at her rallies, but also at civic celebrations, as well as, at protests against repression and inequity. We in the community see her, even when it’s not on the news.
