Showers return tonight & Wednesday

SAGINAW, Mich. (WNEM) – For many it’s back to the old grind today! If your routine picks back up, know that we do have a fairly quiet day of weather ahead of us. We don’t have more active weather, in the way of rainfall, arriving until tonight essentially. That rain will go into Wednesday though. As of now, storm chances are minimal with this rain. Fortunately, this just means a regular old rainfall will be moving through! More below.

This morning, we’re waking up to a partly cloudy sky. Conditions are dry with temperatures mainly between 55 and 60 degrees. It’ll be a pleasant morning at the bus stops, as well as for your morning commute. Cloud cover will be building up the rest of the day from here though. Mostly cloudy skies will dominate by the afternoon, but still staying dry for the time being. Highs will reach up to around 80 degrees, and humidity will increase as the day progresses. Today’s wind will be south southeasterly at 5 to 10 mph.

By the evening however, we could have our first showers of this entire system moving in. These showers could arrive near dinnertime, say 5 to 6 PM. This chance is mainly for northwestern communities like Houghton Lake, West Branch, and Clare though. It’ll lead to more showers tonight.

More rain will pick up as the night progresses, especially as we get closer to sunrise. For the Wednesday morning commute and bus stops, we do anticipate damp weather.

That rain will turn most widespread around the mid-morning Wednesday, between about 8 and 10 AM. While a rumble or two is possible, this should mostly be a light to steady rainfall. After last week, we’ll definitely take that!

By the afternoon, the rain will be slowing down and moving out. Around 5 PM is when the rain should entirely be out of the TV5 area. Expect to have cloudy skies into the evening, but then clearing skies overnight which could lead to some patchy fog on Thursday morning.

Rain totals will be modest, just averaging around 0.25″. Any pockets of more moderate rainfall might be able to push totals up past that mark a little more.

Highs reach up to around 79 degrees with humid conditions. It’ll also be a breezy day with a southwest wind at 10 to 15 mph, gusting to 30 mph. The humidity will start dropping off on Wednesday night.

This stretch to end the workweek looks great still! We expect mostly sunny skies on Thursday, then completely sunny skies on Friday. Highs will reach 76 degrees both days, and the humidity stays low. The wind will be lighter than Wednesday too. Overall, any outdoor plans will be in good shape! Particularly on Friday, for high school football there are absolutely no weather concerns. There’s also no concern of wet weather for Bikes on the Bricks in Flint and the Frankenmuth Auto Fest Block Party. Enjoy!

While there are still some more details to determine with Saturday’s rain chance, it does appear to particularly be more of an evening and nighttime chance. We have a cold front sweeping through, bringing these showers. Saturday morning still looks dry though, and Sunday’s daylight hours appear dry too. Stay tuned for more details as we get closer!
