SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — It now appears a 640,000 square-foot facility in San Antonio has been purchased by ICE.

KENS 5 reports the deal was announced on Tuesday, and now some community members are trying to respond. Details about the location of the building were not disclosed, but sources are saying it is located at 418 SE Loop 410. It is also reported the building was taken off commercial real estate listings in recent days.

The value of the building is valued at approximately $37.6 million after its construction in 2022.

Some San Antonio City Council members are upset over the deal. Some community members had spoken out against the sale of the building to the federal government, but an ICE representative told KENS 5 the building would include well-structured detention facilities designed to assist expanding law enforcement activities across the United States.
