A new documentary is set to spotlight the early days of Iron Maiden, tracing the band’s rise from East London clubs to the forefront of heavy metal.

Producers behind the project confirmed that Iron Maiden: Burning Ambition is now in development. The film draws from the book of the same name and will focus on the group’s formation in the mid-1970s and their rapid ascent during the New Wave of British Heavy Metal. It centers on founder Steve Harris and the shifting lineup that defined the band’s earliest years.

The documentary aims to capture the grit of the UK club circuit, where Iron Maiden built a following through relentless touring and word of mouth. It will also explore how the broader British metal movement created space for heavier, faster bands at a time when punk and hard rock were reshaping the music landscape.
