Kyrgyzstan Unveils Silver Coin to Mark SCO 25th Anniversary

Kyrgyzstan has marked a major regional milestone with the release of a new silver collectible coin celebrating the 25th anniversary of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).

The commemorative coin, titled “Shanghai Cooperation Organization – 25 Years,” was issued as part of the National Bank’s “Historical Events” series, The Caspian Post reports via Kabar.

Released by the National Bank of the Kyrgyz Republic on May 11, 2026, the silver coin highlights the evolution of the SCO into one of Eurasia’s most influential multilateral platforms over the past quarter-century.

Beyond its numismatic value, the coin symbolizes Kyrgyzstan’s active role in strengthening regional cooperation and deepening ties among member states across Eurasia.

The anniversary release carries added significance as Kyrgyzstan currently holds the SCO presidency for 2025-2026, a role that positions the country at the center of regional diplomacy, economic coordination, and infrastructure development initiatives.

Officials say the presidency offers Bishkek an opportunity to promote transport corridors, logistics projects, and broader economic integration across Central Asia and beyond.
