The Namo Balaga in Byndoor has raised concerns over the escalating incidents of cow theft and threats to life perpetrated by miscreants in various localities, particularly Shirur within the Byndoor taluk. In a formal request submitted to the Byndoor tahsildar and police, the organization highlighted the urgent need for appropriate measures to tackle this burgeoning issue.

The latest incident occurred in the early hours of the morning, around 4 AM, when miscreants utilized a Mahindra SUV to steal cows sleeping in an open area near Manjunath Hotel in Shirur town. When confronted, the perpetrators brandished a knife, instilling fear among bystanders. This incident follows a similar occurrence reported a week earlier near the Shirur Market underpass, underscoring the recurring nature of the problem.

Reports of cattle theft from household sheds in various areas including Shirur, Byndoor, Yedthare, Baada, and Soorkund have been on the rise, causing significant distress to families reliant on agriculture and dairy farming for sustenance. Moreover, instances of threats against those attempting to thwart these thefts have further exacerbated the situation.
